Acton Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made on behalf of Acton Removals in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Acton Removals is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Acton Removals has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, servitude and any other form of exploitation. This applies to all aspects of our business and to everyone working for or with us, including employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers and other business partners. We expect all parties in our supply chain to share this commitment and to uphold the same high standards.
Our zero-tolerance policy is embedded in our internal policies, codes of conduct and supplier requirements. Any suspected breach is treated as a serious matter that may lead to termination of contracts, removal from our approved supplier list and, where appropriate, notification to relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Acton Removals provides professional removals and related services. Our supply chain includes suppliers of vehicles, fuel, packing materials, storage facilities, equipment, maintenance services, recruitment and training providers, and other business support services. We recognise that certain sectors and regions can present higher risks of modern slavery, and we tailor our due diligence accordingly.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
To reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains, we conduct proportionate due diligence on both new and existing suppliers. This includes assessing the nature of the goods and services provided, the geographic location of operations, known industry risks and the supplier’s own policies and procedures on labour and human rights.
We require suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights laws and that they actively work to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in their own operations and supply chains. Where appropriate, we request evidence of policies, risk assessments and training.
Acton Removals also undertakes supplier audits, which may be remote or on-site, depending on the level of risk identified. These audits may include reviewing employment records, checking right-to-work documentation, examining working conditions and discussing practices with management and, where feasible, workers. Any issues identified are addressed through corrective action plans with clear timelines. Failure to implement adequate improvements may result in the ending of the commercial relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery and unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery, whether within our own operations or in our supply chains.
Concerns can be raised internally with line managers, senior management or via designated reporting channels made available within the business. Reports can be made confidentially, and all concerns will be investigated promptly, sensitively and, where appropriate, with the involvement of external experts or authorities. We do not tolerate victimisation or detrimental treatment of anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
Acton Removals provides training and guidance to relevant employees to help them recognise the signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond to potential issues. This includes staff involved in procurement, recruitment, contract management and site operations. We aim to increase awareness across the organisation so that risks can be identified early and addressed effectively.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Acton Removals. We regularly review our policies, due diligence procedures and supplier management processes to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the risks we face.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually and updated where necessary to reflect changes in legislation, best practice, business operations or risk assessments. As part of this review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from stakeholders and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
By publishing this statement, Acton Removals reaffirms its commitment to playing its part in eliminating modern slavery and human trafficking and to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers and other partners to uphold human rights and dignity throughout our operations.
